About the client

Who they are

Wollongong Web Design is a registered business name and a division of Webics, set up to serve the Illawarra as a brand in its own right.

The Illawarra is a different market to the Shoalhaven. Different competitors, different suburbs, different searches. It needed its own name, its own look and its own website. An ageing WordPress site was already sitting on the domain, so the job was to replace it completely without throwing away the search equity it had built up.

The solution

What Webics delivered

Webics designed the brand and built the website from scratch. A new logo suite and favicon set were drawn in the Webics family, with the lockup carrying a division of Webics endorsement so the relationship is clear without the smaller brand being swallowed by the bigger one.

The site runs to 26 pages and not one of them came off a template. Home, eight service pages, eleven Illawarra suburb pages, plus Our Work, About, Contact and the supporting privacy, thank you and 404 pages. Every word was written for this brand alone. Nothing is shared with webics.com.au, which matters far more here than on a normal build, because the two sites sell the same thing in the same country. Duplicate copy would have had them competing with each other for the same searches.

Local search was the point of the whole exercise. Every page carries the structured data Google uses to understand what the business is, where it works and what it sells, alongside a sitemap that rebuilds itself, Search Console verification and analytics. Every address from the old WordPress site redirects straight to its new home in a single hop, so nothing that had earned a ranking was thrown away. The enquiry form is protected by a honeypot with reCAPTCHA behind it, and click to call sits everywhere a phone user would reach for it.

It is also Built with Webics, our own website platform. No WordPress, no database, no plugins, no admin login. Every page is finished HTML waiting on the server before the visitor asks for it, so there is nothing to assemble on the way out and nothing sitting there for an attacker to break into.

More than the website

Everything we delivered

Webics did more than one job for Wollongong Web Design. Here is the rest of it.

Branding

We designed the logo too

The Wollongong Web Design identity was drawn by Webics, not handed to us. The logo, the colours and the website were decided together, which is why the brand fits the site instead of being fitted to it.

The platform

  • Built with WebicsBuilt on the Webics platform rather than a page builder, so pages load fast and there are no plugins to keep patched.

Found on Google

  • SEOOn-page SEO across the site: titles, headings and internal links written around what people actually search for.
  • Search ConsoleSearch Console verified and the sitemap submitted, so Google finds every page instead of guessing.
  • Google AnalyticsGoogle Analytics installed, so every enquiry can be traced back to where it came from.
