About the client
Who they are
The Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention & Awareness Network (SSPAN) is a network of representatives from the Shoalhaven community, government and non-government organisations. It works with the community to raise awareness of suicide, promote recovery from mental illness and build resilience, with the aim of reducing the impact of suicide in the Shoalhaven.
People come to the site for very different reasons. Some need help now, often on a phone. Others are worried about someone, have lost someone, want to order Blue Cards, or want to book Mental Health First Aid training.
Their previous website was dated, and several of its buttons and links were hard to read: white lettering on light blue, below the accessibility contrast standard.
The solution
What Webics delivered
Webics redesigned and rebuilt the website and put it live on 4 November 2026. Every word on the old site was carried across unchanged. Only the design is new.
Help comes first. The home page opens with a slow slideshow of photographs from their previous website, and beside SSPAN's name sits a panel with the Lifeline and 13YARN numbers and 000 for emergencies. Those numbers are on every page, a tap away on a phone.
The three forms carried across: contact, Operation Blue Card orders, and expressions of interest for Mental Health First Aid training. Each is protected against spam bots and is emailed straight to SSPAN.
SSPAN's own people can add news to the site themselves. They sign in with a one-time code sent to their email, so there is no password to remember or lose.
It is a fast static site, hosted in the cloud. At launch, Google's PageSpeed test scored the home page 99 on mobile. Links to the old website still land on the right page. We set up Search Console and submitted the sitemap. Webics hosts the site and looks after it.
