Who they are
A Long Drive For Drought is a charity motoring event founded in Brisbane in 2019 by Brent Reeman. Every year a convoy of 40 Series Toyota LandCruisers drives thousands of kilometres through drought-affected Queensland towns, raising money for Farm Angels and spending it in the communities they pass through. The 2026 drive is eight nights, 18 towns and nearly 3,000 kilometres, and the event has raised more than $700,000 since the first drive in 2020.
An event like this asks a lot of one website. It has to sign people up, take donations, sell merchandise, publish an itinerary that changes as the route is confirmed, keep every past year's drive available, and give a long list of sponsors the visibility they were promised. It also has to work on a phone with one bar of signal, because that is where most of the audience is when they read it.
The solution
What Webics delivered
Webics designed and built the site on WordPress and Elementor, around the photography. The hero is the convoy itself on an open road, and the whole design stays out of the way of the images, which are the reason anyone cares about the event.
The running total sits on the home page and updates as money comes in, because a fundraiser that shows its number is a fundraiser people join. Registration, donations and the merchandise shop hand off to the event's fundraising platform rather than being rebuilt inside the site, so the money is handled where it should be and the site stays simple to run.
Each year's drive keeps its own page, so 2020 through to the current event stay live as a record rather than being overwritten every August. The sponsor wall is built to grow, from the naming partner down, and the whole thing is designed mobile-first for an audience reading it from a paddock or a roadhouse. Webics hosts and maintains it between drives.
