Stars of Nowra 2022 – Ory Purhonen
Ory’s fundraiser raised $27,354 for the Cancer Council and contributed to the total $300k from the rest of the Nowra team, which broke the NSW record for a Stars event!
Ory would like to thank his dance partner, Gabriella Angus, the many sponsors, Sari from the cancer council for organising the event, Sharon from Ponte Bar and Dining for their joint fundraiser, and the generous businesses that have donated raffle prizes. Additionally, a big thank you to the rest of the Webics team for stepping up while Ory was out of the office.
This was an amazing journey, and we are all overwhelmed and happy with the outcome. Congratulations Ory!
The much-loved Stars of Nowra is back in 2022 with a new crew of local personalities ready to show off their dance moves and raise money for cancer!
The big event will take place at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre on Saturday 14 May 2022, in a COVID-safe environment. An action-packed night is guaranteed, with a stellar line-up of local dancers, food, drink and plenty of entertainment, all in the name of raising money for a cancer-free future.
This year, our founder and director, Ory Purhonen, will join 11 other business and local community leaders as they learn to dance – with the help of some very talented local dance teachers – over 12 weeks.
Ory’s dance teacher is Gabriella Angus from Classical Ballet with Gabriella.
Events like Stars of Nowra raise funds to support cancer patients and their families in the Shoalhaven with home help, transport to treatment, 13 11 20 support line, cancer prevention programs, local advocacy, cancer research, and offer access to free financial, legal and emotional support.
